18.03.2011: Recent Publication in "Science"

The fundementals for future memory devices are being developed by scientists of the Forschungszentrum Jülich and the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics in Halle. In a ferroelectric material they for the first time directly observed that the dipoles which carry the information in this material continuously change their orientation and can thus also be arranged circularly, the scientists now report in the renowned journal "Science".

01.11.2010: Recent Publication in "Nature Nanotechnology"

A new kind of data storage allows for an increase of data density by a factor of 400 compared to technology currently available. For the first time, scientists of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg [specifically the SFB 762 principal investigators Ingrid Mertig and Arthur Ernst as well as the SFB 762 co-workers Sergey Ostanin and Michael Fechner], and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology succeeded in writing, reading, and storing information in magnetic form on the nanometre scale by using an electric field. The results have been published in the latest issue of "Nature Nanotechnology".
