Research at the Institute of Physics

The Institute of Physics currently houses 17 research groups conducting fundamental and applied research in the area of condensed-matter physics, with the following key subjects:

Our strong third-part funding comprises a number of coordinated research projects such as the local cluster of excellence on Nanostructured Materials, DFG funded collaborative research centers and graduate schools as well as BMBF funded centers for applied research.

There exist various cooperations and collaborations with local non-university research institutions such as the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics    and the Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems    including the Reserach Center for Silicon Photovoltaics, as well as local companies.
