Solid-State NMR of Polymers.
In: M. Mö̈ller, K. Matyjaszewski (eds.) Polymer Science: A Comprehensive Reference, vol. 2, chapter 2.07, pp.185-219. Elsevier Science, Amsterdam 2012.
This contribution summarizes solid-state NMR methods currently used for the in-depth characterization of synthetic polymer materials, ranging from simple polymer melts and elastomers to complex, self-assembled multi-component and multi-phase materials. The fundamentals of solid-state NMR are covered on a basic level, highlighting the possibilities to study structure and dynamics on vastly different length- and timescales. The different methods are illustrated by applications to a wide range of typical macromolecular materials.
